Kenya is competitive, more-so every year as quality standards increase while export volumes decrease. We compete in a variety of ways: by focusing our purchasing in the Central Highlands through long-term relationships, by cultivating partners from non-traditional growing areas, by calibrating with cuppers across the industry to get the best from the auction, and by catching small estates to support them through start-up. Within cooperatives, we focus on custom lot-separation before coffees are delivered to the mill, and on later harvest peak collections. For estates, we focus on custom processing methods and year over year improvements.
